Launched in September 2025, Shaker Heights Coalition for Equity & Accountability (SHCEA) exists to stand with parents, protect children, and hold systems accountable so that equity is no longer a promise but a lived reality in Shaker Heights. We confront systemic barriers, advocate for outcomes over optics, and build spaces where every child and family can thrive.
 

In July 2026, SHCEA formally structured a steering committee of nine members, all Shaker Heights residents. Many have children who currently attend our Shaker Heights schools, and most are families of first-, second-, and third-generation SHSD alumni. The committee is dedicated to the advancement of equity and accountability in the SHSD.

SHCEA is rooted in a mindset to approach our work with an open heart and optimism, while seeking collaboration with the Shaker Heights School District, Board, parents, students, and our community.
